Opened in August 2023, the Sandwell Aquatics Centre stands as a world-class leisure destination and the lasting legacy of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Designed to serve both elite athletes and the local community, the centre offers state-of-the-art aquatic and fitness facilities with inclusivity and accessibility at its core.
As part of the centre’s wider offering, a brand-new gym facility has been developed to provide a premium training environment for members of all abilities. Pulse Fitness is proud to have played a key role in bringing this vision to life.

THE SITUATION
Following its role as a flagship venue during the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Sandwell Aquatics Centre required a gym space that matched its international pedigree while remaining welcoming and functional for everyday users. The facility needed to cater to a broad demographic, support varied training styles and provide dedicated spaces that promote confidence and inclusivity, including a women’s-only training area and a full spin studio.
Building on a successful partnership that saw Pulse Fitness equip the Commonwealth Games Athletes’ Villages, the project represented an opportunity to continue that legacy and deliver a high-quality, future-proof gym solution.

THE SOLUTION
Pulse Fitness was appointed to design, supply and install a comprehensive fitness solution for the Sandwell Aquatics Centre gym. This included a full collection of Premium Cardio equipment alongside Club Line Strength machines, ensuring durability, performance and ease of use within a high-traffic public leisure environment.
In addition to the main gym floor, Pulse Fitness worked closely with the centre to develop a designated women’s training area, creating a comfortable and empowering space tailored to community needs. A fully equipped spin studio was also delivered, supporting group exercise programming and enhancing the centre’s overall fitness offering.

THE RESULT
The installation was completed ahead of the centre’s official opening in August 2023, transforming the gym into a modern, inclusive and high-performing training space. This latest project not only complements Pulse Fitness’ previous work with the Commonwealth Games but brings the partnership full circle, leaving a lasting impact within a landmark UK leisure facility.
