We believe fitness extends far beyond just physical performance, with fitness spaces playing an important and meaningful role in supporting mental health – whether that’s through creating supportive community environments, encouraging routine and resilience or simply giving people a positive outlet to manage stress.
This is why we continue to support universities, schools, community gyms and leisure centres in delivering accessible, inclusive fitness spaces to their communities – helping members feel stronger, more confident and more connected.
For over 14 years, we’ve also worked alongside the Ministry of Defence to enhance fitness facilities for service personnel, supporting both physical performance and mental resilience. As part of this, we’re proud to work with former soldier, author and TV personality ‘Big’ Phil Campion, who joined us as our Military Focused Mental Health Ambassador. Through talks, events and ongoing work within military communities, Phil has helped raise awareness for the mental health challenges faced by service personnel and veterans, while encouraging more open and honest conversations around support and wellbeing.
Because supporting mental health starts with creating the right environments for everyone to be able to move, connect and feel better – both physically and mentally – and continues by having the hard conversations that help break down stigma and support those who need it most.
