Corporate and Social Responsibility
We recognise that our social, environmental and ethical conduct has an impact on our business aims, objectives, values and the delivery of our services to our partners. We therefore take our corporate social responsibilities seriously and are committed to advancing our policies and systems across the entire Pulse Fitness portfolio to ensure we address and monitor all aspects of CSR that are relevant to our business. These include good ethical behaviour, concern for employee health and safety, care for the environment and community/charity involvement.
Our current approach to CSR is broken down as follows;
Ethics
- All Pulse Fitness’s business is conducted via high standard ethical practices, legally, and professionally
- Pulse Fitness undertake work only where we believe we can provide value – to a partner, community, youth group or charity
- To be a responsible and pro-active partner
- To provide cost effective, energy efficient, safe, accessible and compliant sustainable leisure developments
- To actively communicate to stakeholders during a project to develop good relations
- To associate and align the Pulse Fitness brand with positive organizations, committees, industry standards and recognition schemes i.e. SAPCA, Quest etc
Employees, Contractors and Sub-Contractors
- Employ only high calibre, experienced, qualified professionals and specialists
- All contractors and sub-contractors to undertake a comprehensive interview and induction process
- Regular ongoing reward, recognition, training, development and evaluation of all staff
- Enforce good practice, ethics and equal opportunities to all staff
- Ensure all staff share knowledge and good practice
- Encourage staff to follow continuous professional development programs where relevant to their specialism
Health and Safety
- We are committed to providing safe and accessible environments during and post development
- As per our Health and Safety policy Pulse Fitness is committed to adhere to all legislation to operate and adopt responsible health and safety policies
- To ensure that the correct mix of personnel, advisors and management have appropriate training qualifications and host regular reviews, team briefing, feedback and training with all appointed staff
Environmental
- Pulse Fitness are taking positive steps to monitor and reduce energy consumption across all aspects of the business from fleet vehicles, utilization of space, build materials, tools and machinery, packaging, paper free office, wire free, self-powered fitness equipment and energy efficient design and build solutions.
- We proactively promote recycle and reuse initiatives company wide
- As per our environmental policy Pulse Fitness is committed to adhere to all legislation to operate and adopt responsible environmental policies – to create healthy people and a healthy planet
- To provide energy efficient buildings and sustainable developments and where possible to achieve energy rating A+ and BREAM rating excellent
Community and Charitable Involvement
- Upon a local level we provide approximately 10 work based placements during the working year to students aged 14- 19 years, plus a work based project placement to Staffordshire university annually
- Pulse believe apprenticeships lead to a more motivated and satisfied workforce, as such, all our internal sales and service administration staff are currently undertaking NVQ apprenticeships
- Pulse has implemented an apprenticeship scheme to help young people entering into the working environment when they complete school with the recruitment of Administration Apprentice within the Sales department
- All available materials and resources we attempt to source within a 30-mile radius of a head office/and or building site
- From a corporate perspective we currently sponsor Congleton Dance Club, Cricket Club and Football Club via monetary value, staff volunteers and value in kind (Equipment)
- We have forged local links with school and youth groups, to provide reduced equipment hire rates and access to our own working leisure facility
- We host and organise internally within the company many charitable initiatives, support pay role giving and match charitable fundraising achieved. Currently this year alone we have raised in excess of £8,000 for various charitable groups
- Communication with stakeholders, inviting community for comment and consultation in our business and the projects we work upon.

- We also support national charitable initiatives including Fit for Sport, Change for Life, Youth Sports Trust, Asthma UK, Inclusive Fitness Initiative and the British Heart Foundation.
